In 1865, William McCaffery and Seymour Ainsworth purchased the spring and commissioned an ornate Gothic pavilion crowned with a golden eagle, completed the following year. Their showpiece reflected the era when Saratoga’s mineral springs were among the most fashionable attractions in America.

Today, High Rock Park serves as a welcoming neighborhood gathering place. Open lawns and shaded seating invite picnics and quiet afternoons, while the park’s pavilions provide sought-after space for community events and private gatherings. Historical markers throughout the grounds trace the story of the spring and the city it inspired, and the park is also home to Tempered by Memory, a moving September 11 memorial sculpture crafted from World Trade Center steel.
